#TRENDS2015:SCRATCH THE WINTER BLUES AND GO FOR THE NUDES

You wake up early and you?re once again in a rush. You grab a piece of fruit to munch on your way to work. No more Christmas decorations to make you smile. No more cosy Christmas Carols to melt your heart. The festive season and yummy feasts are now in the past and we back to our old habitual lives.

The New Year?s Resolutions (here) were all set and long forgotten and all we?re left with the thought that summer’s just behind the corner. I’m sorry to break it to you, but there are six long and chilly months before the summer comes! So rather than being moody and grumpy up until then, I suggest you scratch the winter blues and go for something fresh and new.
And that’s the thing by letting the blues crawl into your life, you also quietly accede to miss out on life. Rather than waiting for the warm sunrays to brush against your face and bring back your smile, I suggest you let your cheerfulness thrive in some alternative ways.

Recently, I?ve also been also feeling quite down for no particular reason. It all got to a point to which I couldn’t even write up a post which honestly intimidated me a lot. However, rather than turning into a prisoner to my mood (here), I decided to go out for a walk and make some plans for the upcoming months. Rather than pulling off the standard black on black winter outfit, I went for an all-nude combo.  Especially during Winter 2015 when the pastels have splashed the catwalks, how could I have possibly resisted dressing head to toe like a cheeky little snowflake. Little did I know that while wearing lighter colours, my mood was also being affected in an overly positive manner. And while strolling down the streets in my neutral pumps, I was also getting quite a lot of cheerful smiles from the passing-by strangers. That’s what colours do – on a subconscious level they affect our current mood. So now you know what your choice for tomorrow should be – white, pale, and nude.
Also, as one of the main reasons to feel down during winter is the lack of Vitamin D, make sure to expose yourself to direct sunlight as soon as you wake up.  To further lift up your mood why not engage in some good old-fashioned winter fun up UP in the mountains? And
the higher you get – the stronger the sundays will be and brighter your mood will become.

Recently I did a post on how to host
the picture-perfect dinner party (here). I reckon during this quite neutral time of the year you should start a new tradition with your friends. As winter’s the best seasons for home
gatherings why not throw a dinner party or host a special Sunday Brunch ‘Made in Chelsea’ style? Drink red wine. Surround yourself with positive people and let the smiles and laughter back into your (and their) life. Positivity and happiness is contagious, but so is negativity and sadness. It’s your choice what you’ll be fuelling your body with. Also, rather than listening to Coldplay or any other melancholic tunes (I know how tempting it is to fuel your negative mood with sad and gloomy melodies) why not come up with a new track-list bringing together upbeat songs that could trigger some quite goofy dance moves while being on the tube.
And as you’re now all motivated to put together your winter list of happy songs, why not also use it during your after-work gym sesh. Exercising often and being on a diet, rich on vitamins will boost your serotonin levels up! The higher they are ? the happier you’ll become!
And once you’re back home, light up a scented candle, run a hot bath, drink some soothing and relaxing herbal tea. Christmas might be over, but cosiness can always be achieved!
At the end of my long day spent out in the city with me mulling over how to make myself smile again, I stumbled upon a little boutique Downtown! It’s a heaven for hand-made accessories – aw, and please, pay attention to the ‘yummy’ necklace below! And that’s the thing – the moment I smiled – I started encountering positive people and discovering some lovely happy spots.

It’s winter. It’s cold and there’s quite some time until the Easter Holidays! However, no matter what the season or the weather is – life’s never on hold. Make sure to live it, eek? 🙂
Lots of love,

A.
