WHAT'S TRENDING? THE BOOK, PARDON, THE CLUTCH!
From Olympia Le-Tan’s statement books, ops, clutches, to Rebecca Minkoff’s music inspired ‘studded speaker’ bag, the 'evening clutch' is no longer what it used to be - monochrome, quite small, or,
in other words, simply invisible. This season, no matter what type of surreally chic outfit you decide to pull off, if your bag is undetectable - then you’re doing something wrong. And honestly, when I stumbled upon the 'eccentric bag' trend, I was almost certain that I’d never dare go out with a ‘bat’ in hand (here) which will be keeping in 'corps' my lipstick, powder, and purse.
Aw, and boys, if you seek to date a ‘who read’, BEWARE and Don't let her trick you! The girl storming down the street's not trying to impress you with the old ‘Macbeth’ edition in her hand. She’s trying to make a statement. A Fashion one. (here)
(P.S. I'll be showing you how to make yourself a book-inspired clutch! First DIY post next week)
Well, quite frankly, this trend’s been slowly growing on me even though up until now, I’ve never seen myself as a ‘clutch fan’. I'd rather go for a satchel or a tote (especially during the day) and if I was to attend a formal even in the evening - only then I'd force myself to go for a chic evening clutch. And seriously, I tend to carry so many essentials with me (small hairspray, a charger... etc. etc.) that a petite bag was never really a) a handy option or b) statement enough to make me completely discard 'a'.

Well, when I checked out the unique clutch designs by Alexander McQueen and Anya Hinderman (I seriously admire her 'cereal box' inspired one) my attitude towards the clutch drastically changed. The latest designs offered by Chanel and Charlotte Olympia are so bold and unique that today I'm ready to walk around with a dead battery and as a substitute rock a 'chalkboard clutch' instead!
Also, if you treat yourself with a quirky bag, you don’t need to invest much energy in figuring out what attire to wear for a walk around the city. Yes, the best thing about the trend is ‘Plain Jane’ outfit it requires. You can literally go for a pair of slim fit jeans, white top, cute pumps and a blazer and no longer worry whether you’d look fashionable enough. Just take out your out-of-the-box clutch, or if you wish your - 3d ‘box’ clutch (below) - and hit the streets. Aw, and be prepared for lots of curious glances once you rock your 'IT' clutch.
