You know what happens when someone finds out that I have the not-so-secret passion for fashion and I’m indeed a lifestyle slash fashion blogger? Well,
I get in return quite an ironic smirk and the unimaginative and already quite recycled remark ‘Aw… a fashion blogger. I see…’ And you know? Facing such reactions it's no surprise. It’s the word ‘fashion’ that people don’t get... and it’s only when they eventually find out that I blog about other ‘stuff’ that they actually pay attention. Today's article will hopefully prompt the ones depreciating fashion to finally give a little credit to the positive influence the fashion industry can have.
Actually there was a specific local cause that inspired Polo Ralph Lauren to join Bulgaria's 'Women's Breast Health Initiative'. Unfortunately, Bulgaria still lacks the radiotherapy machine that’s absolutely essential during the breast cancer treatment. Currently, the country is trying to raise money for purchasing the machine and the money that Polo Ralph Lauren will locally raise will go for that specific cause. And thankfully, so many people among which celebrities, businessman and lovers of the brand stopped by and contributed to the cause.
Did you notice the catering offered at the venue was also themed - from little pink bites decorated with ribbon (even the savory bites were pink), to pink lemonade and champagne?
When the guests left I wandered around for a bit longer chatting with the hosts about the cause and the success of the event. I was so happy to find out that almost all of the garments planned for that day were sold out! And if that's not worth a BIG SMILE?
The #PinkPony will be available in store until the 30.11.2014 so if you want to contribute to the great cause, feel free to pay a visit and get your 'Pink Pony' piece. Also, for the rest of you, who live far far way, please head over to Pink Pony Promise website and give your support to Polo Ralph Lauren’s Worldwide Campaign.
So yes, fashion may be deemed superficial and not really worth the talk. But after hearing how inspiring a fashion brand (and designer) could be, well, don’t you think it's time that we appreciated the positive (social and health) achievements a certain fashion brand might have?
Below some cheeky photos from the store and me being a 'blogger' taking a few goofy shots as well.
By the way the new Polo Ralph Lauren Collection is pretty divine. Just look at the camel back below. It has this chic and sophisticated touch that simply blew me away :)
(and some champagne. lots of champagne...)
