My Beauty Essentials: A-Derma ‘Hydralba Rich Hydrating Cream’ and Organic Avocado Oil
Today I thought it’s about time I revealed to you two of my skincare essentials. Actually, even though I?ve never been overly keen on purchasing make up, since an early age, my grandmother, a renowned beautician, has been tutoring me on how to take care of my skin.

Back then, when my grandmother was giving me beauty tips & tricks, I had not idea that the product’s brand wasn’t really what mattered most. It was precisely her who talked me out of buying
overly expensive moisturisers and lotions, teaching me instead how to prepare DIY masks at home or go for the organic products rather than the flagship ones. And even though I’ve never had serious skin disorders such as
eczema or psoriasis, my skin’s always been overly (and quite annoyingly) dry. Especially during winter or after long haul flights it has the tendency to dry out to an extent to which it becomes itchy and greyish. Over the years I’ve tried a lot of products in hopes of finding a moisturiser that would maintain my skin’s elasticity and healthy glow.  And just like that, the first time I went to Paris, I stumbled upon A-DERMA. It was around New Year’s Eve and the chilly wind had dried my skin so much – I couldn’t even stretch my lips in a smile. An overly polite and helpful pharmacist pointed out to me A-derma?s ?Hydralba Rich Hydrating Cream?(here), explaining that their products were great for delicate and sensitive skin, having been originally developed for babies.

Well, today I can hardly put in words how much I thank that lady! I?ve been repurchasing A-Derma’s cream ever since I tried it. It’s actually the first moisturiser that has changed my skin completely, making it look much younger and alive. And the best bit is: I don’t feel the need to use a primer prior to applying foundation. What I tend to do is first put some of the product, then wait 5 minutes and apply my foundation. The final result: dewy and glowing looking skin!

How often do I use the product? As it works both as a day and night cream I use it twice a day – early in the mornings and late in the evenings after having completely removed my make up. Weirdly, when I was talking to the pharmacist a few years back, I do remember her mentioning something about the A-Derma’s signature ingredient around which all of their products were based (I was 100% sure she meant Wheat Germ).  It turned out that I got it all wrong (surely because of the language barrier) and it’s only recently that I found out that the company has developed itself its secret ingredient – the organic oat Rhealba that’s used exclusively in their  products. I guess that’s what’s transformed my skin for good. Up until now I’ve tried all products from the ‘Hydralba Rich Hydrating Range’ and only ones I’ve used their Light Hydrating Cream (just mixed up the packages). Unfortunately, the lighter version of the cream wasn’t really suitable for my skin, and I’d recommend it for those who have normal skin and are currently in the search of a product that would keep their skin hydrated during long haul flights or under harsh weather conditions.

And just a quick tip I learned from my grandmother: Boys and girls (snowboarders and skiers), who wanna keep their skin hydrated – once in a while apply avocado oil instead of cream. Not only will it hydrate and soothe your dry and itchy skin, but its collagen supporting amino acids and various proteins will also work towards increasing its elasticity and liveliness. And really why not give it a try before spending tons of money on fancy products that might not even do the work? If you decide to purchase this magical oil, make sure to get the cold-pressed unrefined organic option (ex. Fushi Organic Avocado Oil here), which is always darker and greener than the conventional options that are offered on the market.

How to use it? Mix a few drops of the oil with water and apply it to your face (or over any dry skin patches) then go to bed and let it do some magic.
Let me know whether you find these products as miraculous as I do and make sure to share in the comments below your skincare essentials.
Much love,

  • Checking out your blog following yesterday’s #bbloggers chat. What a coincidence! I haven’t seen this brand a lot on beaut blogs but I finished some samples this week and was really pleased with them. Annoyingly Feelunique doesn’t have the cream that I liked so I will have to find it elsewhere. Ho and, avocado oil is also great for hair (as a mask).

  • Interesting! Thanks for the recommendation. I eat a ton of avocados and have known about the power of its oil before. I just haven’t bought anything featuring it as an ingredient! Will definitely check it out! So jealous you got to have a helpful Parisian pharmacist come and recommend you products. That’s one of my fantasies come to life!
