THIS SEASON’S MUST HAVE: THE TWO PIECE LITTLE BLACK SET & AN EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH THE INSPIRING DESIGNER NIKOLETT

THIS SEASON’S MUST HAVE: THE TWO PIECE LITTLE BLACK SET & AN EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH THE INSPIRING DESIGNER NIKOLETT
A long time has passed since Chanel revolutionised women?s fashion by introducing looser and more comfortable garments including the iconic and her most signature piece of clothing ? the LBD!

And certainly, going for the Holly Golightly fashion vibes will never go out of fashion and is a must when you’re about to attend a posh dinner party. However, during the festive season when you?re on your way to hit wild parties a bit more often, I reckon it?s about time we came up with a cheeky alternative to the LBD. As fashionistas we simply cannot afford replicating the same outfit over and over again at different events, right? Also, as we clarified in my previous post (here) if you wanna stick to your image of an inspiring fashionista, you have to be bold enough to step up your game and  find ways of pulling off chic and traditional outfits in a quirky and untraditional way that only one self-respecting fashionista could really do.

Actually today my parent’s mark 25 years since they got married – Silver Anniversary they call it, right?  Gosh, that’s such a commitment isn’t it?!

Anyway, as my dad decided to organise an evening cocktail to celebrate the occasion, as their most VIP guest  I felt the need to hit the store and come up with a signature evening look for such a special event!
When I went to the opening of Boutique Room 11 I immediately spotted THE IT OUTFIT! It’s a two piece set by Nikolett, an inspiring designer, who’s not afraid to take the classic LBD a few steps further, crafting a chic outfit that converts the traditional LBD into a sophisticated and quirky little black set. To make the look even more hip, I finish it all off with a loud bang adding this statement necklace also by Nikolett. I’ve currently stepped out of my comfort zone, going for a look which I reckon will be attracting quite a few curious glances from the guests!
So, when you feel that the LBD is just a bit too recycled for your taste – why not shake it all a bit and also go for a two piece little black set? Find a crop shirt (or cut your basic one), then put on a high-waist pencil skirt, and your dressy black stilettos! Choose an oversized accessory that would do the talking instead of you and for a pop of colour think Chanel and go for the bright red lip!
I felt so inspired and impressed by Nikolett‘s monochrome collection that I got an interview with her before I left the store. Aw, and by the way, her statement accessories inspired me to start wearing earrings again: something that I ceased doing quite some time ago!

1.When did your journey as a designer begin?
Ever since I was a young girl I?d always give the same answer to the question ?What do you wanna become when you grow up?: ?A designer? I’d reply without any hesitation. For as long as I remember I’ve been keen on pulling off outfits and playing with my mom’s jewellery! And I’d get so incredibly   excited every time I came across a sparkling little stone. My granny has also influenced my passion for fashion! She’s a sewer, and I used to spend countless of hours staying right beside her and paying close attention to the sewing process. So when I became mature enough to decide what I wanted to study – I just knew it – FASHION. So just like that I went to a Fashion School and after graduating I did my Bachelor and Master Degrees in Fashion too!

2.Tell us a bit more about the creative process behind the unique Nikolett accessories you create? How did it all start?
It all started as a joke around 5 years ago. I was crafting pieces for myself and then all my girlfriends wanted a necklace or two for them too. Soon after the friends of my friends started contacting me  and ordering accessories too. I quickly found my niche as up until that point no one was offering that kind of accessories. People from all across the country began contacting me and it all got to the point of me constantly stumbling upon people wearing my pieces.
3.Where does your inspiration come from?
My signature jewelries are made with macramé, which I?d dye in hombre colours. My latest obsession is creating necklaces with chains and macramé, which are sewed and braided by hand. Also, I always make sure to create  hip and unique packaging, inspired by the personalities of my clients: I?d always take into consideration their taste and character which to be honest, is where I derive most of my inspiration from. Also, I’d spend hours researching the traditions of different tribes and their national costumes and learning from them.
4.If you could go back to some particular time in the past, when and where would you go?
I’d certainly go back to the 1920?s. Aw? you know, attending events wearing the signature frock and frill embellished shift dresses and studded fringe flapper cocktail ones inspired by the Charleston dance; rocking the pearl and feather accessories and a chic wavy hairstyle. Actually, no wonder that the Great Getsby is my all-time favourite film as it perfectly showcases that magnificent era in all of its beauty and glamour.
5.What?s the accessory that every woman should own?
The smile? and, of course, a pair of statement earrings . And remember, an accessory can tell a lot about the personality of its wearer.
6.Recently you opened your first fashion boutique. What?s the concept behind Boutique Room 11 and are you planning to expand your business abroad?
Boutique Room 11 unites my brand Nikolett and ESSA TAU. We are only two designers now, offering a limited collection of clothes and jewellery. In future we?d like to represent and offer the work of other independent designers too. Ultimately, we’d like to establish a team so that our production process could be more efficient which would also help us expand abroad.

Above you could see me rocking some of Nikolett’s statement earrings :))

7.What advice would you give to the new designers who?re making the first step in the fashion industry?
Well, never give up on your dreams, keep broadening your horizons and promoting your own signature style. And rather than copying the latest trends, get inspired by them, always taking them a step further, in the aim to finally craft something outstanding and unique. Start a trend rather than replicate the ones that already exist. Aw, and dig into the past ? some magnificent treasures are hidden in there!
8.What?s your wish for the New Year?
My job’s what currently makes me truly happy! So I wish to keep on learning, working with dedication, and smiling! That’s my formula to success!
9.And what?s your wish to our readers?
Be patient, trust in your gut instinct, believe in your dreams and work towards achieving them! I assure you – all of them will eventually come true.
Thank you, N. for inspiring me to go out of my comfort zone, introduce the statement earrings back to my style and come up with a cheeky alternative to the LBD.
And you, lovely readers, you ready to get creative and bold in regards to fashion, during the festive season too?
A.
