Still Breastfeeding While Gradually Introducing Solids

I can’t believe that my baby girl is already eating solids with a a spoon, while sitting on a chair! If you’re a mommy you can probably understand my excitement and if not – one day you will. It was a struggle for me to decide how to handle the transition from full-time breastfeeding to breastfeeding and cooking for my little one. I was aiming for the 6 months milestone before introducing solids to Sofia’s diet, but then I realised that what works for other babies doesn’t necessarily mean that it would work for my own. The thing is – in Denmark babies are almost exclusively breastfed and most moms start with the solids around month 4. In Bulgaria most babies...

The Monday After

The big packing has begun (more about what’s going on here)! Philip and I spent the weekend rearranging the flat, throwing things out, and sorting the rest in boxes. The flat feels empty and its cosiness has almost evaporated. I can’t help but feel nostalgic, blogging from our couch and looking at the empty shelves. Philip and I managed to turn his bachelor’s pad into our first home and it’d been years since I last called a place ‘home’. And here we are already embarking on a new adventure. Even though our life in boxes is bringing my anxiety levels up (yes, I’m still learning to control my perfectionism and not let it get the best of me), we decided to get all the annoying tasks out...

PRELUDE: AUNTIES IN ACTION

Today I put together some old footage (here) that would eventually shed a light on the everything that’s taking place right now – you know, Philip, Sofia and I moving and all that. Philip and I were indeed going through some tough times and now looking back I have to admit that  the signs are there. It was pretty obvious that we were growing apart, talking only about work and spending less and less time together. I excused that with the fact that were newbie parents still struggling to successfully juggle work and life. A denial. That’s what it was. I wasn’t ready to admit that there was a lot more to it. I was crazy excited that Vicky was gonna visit us for...

WE’RE SOOO DOING THIS!

Apartment sold – one way tickets bought. Next month we’re moving to Bulgaria and we take it from there. We have a lot to take care of – sell some of our belongings, pack the rest and ship it to Bulgaria, and also acknowledge that we’re actully moving away. Me. I need to do that. I’ve gotten used to Denmark and its unconventional ways (you can read more about my first impression of Denmark? here). So if you have just moved to Denmark all motivated to go around greeting people to ask them out for a cup a coffee and share your life story – maybe you should reconsider the place. Think of it that way: a coconut – it takes time to crack it open…...

‘Loving Tan’ – You Sure Are!

I missed my tan! I haven’t sunbathed or visited the tanning booth for before I got pregnant. To be honest back in the day I was a little bit obsessed with tanning, which, I KNOW, is sooo not good for you. But it wasn’t until I had Sofia in my belly that I actually decided that enough was enough and visiting the tanning booth was left to rot away in the past. Now, not only have I gotten used to my pale looks, but also I have no intention of sacrificing the quality of milk by visiting the tanning booth. A myth or not I would rather stay away from it especially as I plan to breastfeed for a little bit longer. And then...
