Back to B&C

Denmark is famous for its flourishing blogging scene and pretty dope street style, so ever since I moved here I’ve been paying close attention to what people wear and what’s most representative of the local style. Of course combining a pair of New Balance with a dress is one of the most common things to see and in my attempts to blend in I did try that combination that says ‘in your face’ gender stereotypes.

But as you can clearly see, I’ve had enough trying to look like a Dane, and I’m back to my Black & Chic self. And anyway, I’m too short and dark for rocking skirts with Air Max, se here I’m walking the streets of Copenhagen in a new pair of high heeled pointed boots and autumn vampy lipstick. Plus, who says that I should look like a Dane to be get a sense of belonging?  In fact, when Philip and I started dating, on a couple of occasions I caught myself trying to ‘act like a Dane and dress like one…’ But hello? Have you seen my skin tone and hair colour? I might add layers and layers of clothes, but the Southern vibes of my looks … well, it’d be pretty difficult to conceal. Plus, I’ve noticed that he likes me the most when I’m being my Eastern European – Cosmopolitan self, rocking my stilettos, high waisted trousers and fur coats. And let me tell you – that’s the look that just feels right and makes me feel ‘myself.’letters_to_a123455letters_to_a123Photos by Preslava Petkova

With that said – just embrace yourself and let people love you for who you truly are and not who you think they might like.
Happy Monday
xoxo
